Using Tax Free Weekends to reduce your expenses

This will save you about 6% to 20% on your office purchases.

Many office supplies also qualify as school supplies like paper, computers, folders, staples, paper-clips, marketing binders (3-ring binders).  Some furniture would also qualify.

States like Texas, North Carolina and New York normally participate in these tax free weekends.

Here is the tip:

Try to plan your office purchases to fall on a Tax-Free weekend.  If you are purchasing supplies anyways, why not postpone a purchase to fall on this weekend. 

You could contact your local Staples or Office Depot General Manager and tell them you would like to purchase a number of supplies, give them the order and they will pull it for you.  They will run your purchase on the Tax-Free weekend and then deliver the supplies to you on Monday.  Many times if the order is significant enough the GM has the authority to give you up to a 10% on top of the Tax-Free weekend.

You do have to call them to arrange this.

Or ask your normal office supply rep to honor the Tax-Free weekend when you place the order.  If they don’t tell them you want the equivalent tax % off or you will take your business to Staples that week.

Either way you will save from 6% to 20% depending on the State you reside in.
