The Candy Bowl Technique
This technique can be questionable to some; not because of the technique itself but the intent.
The way this technique works is the sales person will come in with the “good candy” like chocolate bars, M & M’s, Reese Cups and what have you so you can put them in your candy bowl.
This acts as a gift but it is for the office so it is within bounds.
The reason the sales person gives candy is the "good candy" always encourages the office staff to stop by the office managers desk to grab some when they get a little bored.
This gives positive attention to the office manager by the employees which in turn endears the office manager to the salesperson.
The sales person then uses this endearment to get the information they are looking for.
